Scrapbooking Borders

Scrapbooking borders are necessary because they do not only frame a page beautifully but can determine themes. Without borders, a page seems to extend endlessly. It is like looking at a wide open space. When making a scrapbook, it is important to draw the reader’s attention to what they are looking. The more striking the scrapbooking borders are the more inviting it would be. Darker borders make the page more interesting as well as make the page complete.

There are many kinds of borders to choose from which can be used either on the page as a whole or just used to embellish individual photographs, and even a combination of the two options. You can use markers to draw lavish borders in plain black-colored or fanciful-colored ones. Punching decorative holes or even fabrics can make wonderful patterns too. Stickers, rubber stamps or pattered papers can come handy in making your scrapbooks.

Like fashion, borders connote taste and style. Each person is different in this aspect. Some would want it in dark colors with symmetrical patterns or straight edges, but others would prefer it with cutesy shapes with decorative fonts. It could also be designed to create theme or like a journal with labels stating dates or events you try to capture.

Scrapbook Border Ideas

As mentioned previously, borders can be used in many different ways; they can be used to border the whole page or just the pictures or images on the page. When you place nice looking colorful borders on your scrapbook pages, the pages will be more interesting to look at.

Simple borders may be composed of stickers pasted on the sides of the paper. However, balance should be made so that the pictures or images will not be overshadowed by the sticker borders. Stickers in this case most be narrow to be functional to the scrapbook page.

One can also make borders using scrapbook pens with different colors and widths. This can really be a challenge to the scrapper. A square shaped border is the most popular one and different colors can be made for the squares which may be on top of one another.

Rubber stamps can also be used to make the borders. Different shapes or images maybe stamped on the sides. Using colors will greatly enhance the border.

Stencils are also good materials to make borders along with pens. Die cuts can be made with shaped stencils and using exacto knives.

I border most of my scrapbooking pages by running an ink pad around the edges. I think it is amazing the difference that this one think does. I find that it makes the page look finished.
